Download the ‘Charms Blue’ student app – it is awesome and so easy to use!  Questions?  Ask!  All practice files will be on CHARMS.

Plans for the week will be posted here by Sunday night.  Once we review all music, you will need to practice whatever is necessary to be fully prepared for class.

MONDAY, AUGUST 20

TN STANDARDS:  HS1.VM.P1.A, HS1.VM.P2.B, HS1.VM.P2.C

PHONESIt is YOUR responsibility to follow the new phone policy.  If you do not follow the policy, 5 participation points will be lost (10 total per day).

Throughout each week:  warm-ups, solfege review, basic sight-singing, explore basic music theory and terminology within each performance piece.

  • Snap-Raise Homework Session first 25 minutes of class.
  • Leaning – Review work from last week;  Work through patterns in Baritone part while Sops and Altos sing their parts.  Sing through with focus on style, pitch and rhythm.
  • Banks and Braes – Review work from last week; Work 2 pt section (baritones singing harmony);  Sing the Alto/Baritone end section without Sop descant;  Add Sop descant.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 21

TN STANDARDS:  HS1.VM.P1.A, HS1.VM.P2.B, HS1.VM.P2.C

  • Ave Maria – Discuss MTVA Freshman Honors audition piece; Write in pronunciation; Listen to and follow along with performance example.
  • This is Me – Go through musical map of piece and who sings when;  Assign parts for 3-pt treble chords;  Work through beginning section.
  • My Love… – Explore singing with a supported, constant tone;  Review proper vowels;  Sing through opening section using music only if needed;  Sing through whole piece focusing on constant tone and proper vowels.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22

TN STANDARDS:  HS1.VM.P1.A, HS1.VM.P2.B, HS1.VM.P2.C

  • Ave Maria – Review work from yesterday;  Continue working through parts and pronunciation.
  • Leaning – Work through end section by part, then together;  Work through individual trouble spots;  Sing through whole piece.
  • This is Me – Continue working through parts focusing on counting and pitch.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 23

TN STANDARDS:  HS1.VM.P1.A, HS1.VM.P2.B, HS1.VM.P2.C

  • Ave Maria – Review pronunciation; Sectional work through m. 17.
  • A Thousand Years?  If the music is in, we will study the musical map and begin working through the piece.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 24

TN STANDARDS:  HS1.VM.P1.A, HS1.VM.P2.B, HS1.VM.P2.C

  • A Thousand Years – Review work from Thursday (if music is in) and continue working parts.
  • Leaning… – Sing through with style and energy!  Focus on pitch!
  • My Love… – Write the lyrics down – no music – May work with a partner;  Sing through piece.
